The recent release of the Route to the Plastics Treaty by the Cámara de Comercio de Bogotá (Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá) marked a milestone in the road towards a more sustainable plastics industry as well as some important innovations. The event itself was a platform to share knowledge and promote the responsible use and management of plastics.
The event started with a series of talks and panels talking about several crucial topics. Some of the most important themes amongst them included: plastic taxes, existing and emerging legislation regulations, ecodesign, the Golden Design Rules, and productive recycling. These sessions provided an integral look into the challenges and opportunities that the industry faces during this transition period towards more sustainable models.
During the second half of the event there were four specialized talks happening at the same time. They went into specifics regarding the new legislation for plastics, as well as best practices in the plastics supply chain. Plastic taxes and associated regulations were major topics, as well as the need for clear and effective policies that incentivize recycling and waste reduction.
Grupo Plastilene had an important participation in the event with a stand that garnered a lot of traction. Altalene and Plastilene presented their innovations and improvements in the increased use of PCR between 10 and 100% into the packages they manufacture. Reciclene offered the Ciclolene® resins made out of 100% postconsumer national plastic.
Displaying our sustainable products in a tangible manner doesn’t just highlight the commitment Grupo Plastilene has to a circular economy, but allows for networking and collaboration opportunities amongst the attendees.
This was an enriching experience that brought key industry stakeholders to discuss, learn, and collaborate in finding sustainable solutions. The collective participation of companies such as Grupo Plastilene showcases that innovation and commitment are essential towards a cleaner and more responsible future for plastics.
